The Konjac Sponge has been extremely popular in recent years, but the konjac plant actually has been used for centuries in Japan, China and Southeast Asia as both a source of food as well as a traditional medicine.
Konjac Sponges were first created as a way for Japanese farmers to cleanse a baby's skin, so they're a much gentler way to exfoliate dead or dry skin during your daily face wash. These sponges are nothing short of a skincare game changer, according to some users.
100% Natural & Biodegradable, handmade Konjac fibre and ancient Japanese beauty secret.
When you first use a Konjac Sponge, it will have quite a firm, tight texture that you really don’t want to apply to your skin. Your first step is to fill the sink with warm water and submerge the sponge for a minute or so, until it has expanded and is lovely and soft. Squeeze out any excess water and gently cleanse skin. It is not necessary to use cleansing products, but a small amount can be added to your Konjac Sponge if desired. If a cleanser is added, the sponge will help the product work harder and go further.
They’re actually very effective when used with water alone. However, if you prefer to double cleanse, I recommend that you start with your cleansing lotion of choice and use it all over the face, then rinse the sponge and go in for a second cleanse with water alone.
After use, always rinse your sponge well and allow to dry in an airy place between uses. Be careful not to wring it out as this may damage the delicate plant fibres, just squeeze between your flattened hands. You can also pop your clean sponge in the fridge to keep it fresh and cool, which helps it last even longer. Alternatively, your sponge is happy to be aired on a radiator or heated towel rail. When dried, it will shrink and harden - this is perfectly natural. Simply allow it to absorb water and rehydrate before using again. Never use the sponge when dry. The better you take care of the sponge, the longer it will last. Never leave the sponge in the shower or in a pool of water. Your Konjac Sponge is a 100% natural vegetable product and should last 2 to 3 months. Once it starts to look tired or breaks down, replace it.
Our Konjac Sponges are 100% biodegradable and can be safely composted or used in the garden to help water your plants by holding moisture. Never leave a child unattended with a sponge.
* Comes in a protective pouch. For air drying purposes, the sponge has a little convenient string attached.
